MODEL centre of focus or part of the picture?

Composition is only one part of what makes up a complete picture.
Sometimes a person in a landscape, cityscape or ruined factoryscape is there as a constituent part of the overall image.
Inevitably if anyone reads this there will be cries of, 'it depends on what you want to achieve', 'horses for courses', and 'we are all individuals'.
I'm just asking what you as a model or a photographer like most or enjoy most and perhaps show some examples of those that work for you.
For instanc the image left of Victoria I think works as part of a woodland setting and would not look as good if set in a lounge or kitchen, nor without the dappled shade.
