It's just before 4am on 9/11/16, and it looks currently, as if Donald Trump is set to take the presidency of the United States.

Not long back I felt similarly dismayed, shocked, sick even - about the win for Boris Johnson and his campaign for Brexit.

In both cases, often cited as one reasoning for the number of votes in favour of these rich, arrogant and powerful members of the elite, was the placing of a 'protest' vote. It's here my point lays, in that whilst I can completely understand much of the reasoning for offering a protest to the establishment - I cannot understand how people like these are viewed as 'alternative' or would be perceived as having the interests of the average member of either public in mind or in their hearts?

I see both characters as self serving and arrogant at least, corrupt and criminal and ignorant in many verifiable cases shown.

Is this where democracy has taken us? Has democracy been bought up and sold out by those at the top with control of the media?

For clarity, the other side of these two arguments were Cameron and Clinton, both also arrogant elite pigs in my view.

I accept my views are much more socialist than many here, and accept there have to be divides in opinion (it's essential in fact sometimes) but do any of us have much faith in the political options we're seeing right now?
