I think this was shoot number 8 with Ben which says it all. Ben was back on top form after an accident last year and has lots to offer in terms of experience and well- chosen outfits. His genuine 1930s Metropolitan Police great coat turned out to be superb and I felt honoured to be the first tog to shoot it. Ben is very good at setting a mood and can switch expressions far better than any model I have worked with - and that is over 20.
One of out most successful shoots, a lot of it down to Ben being organised and well-prepared with flexible outfits. His sense of style matches the clothes he wears and we got some of best images so far. His ability to change his expression to create a new mood for a shot continues to surprise me and resulted in the best portraiture I have done in 18 months. Roll on the next!
Another productive shoot with the indefatigable Ben who brought along Mr Yeatman and two great uncles, one of whom appeared to be a Catholic priest of some sort or another. Ben goes all out to get his outfits right and so is always keen to play the part. He got Father Green to a T.
You can rely on Ben to get good shots and as usual this shoot produced a Starred Image - and there could be more when he posts. Ben handles almost anything with his usual aplomb. This time it was terrible weather but always seems to rise above it.
Another memorable shoot with Ben, all on location in different parts of Nottingham , with challenging work in the city centre that he handled with his usual aplomb. Great outfits as always, the day was made extra special by an old Voigtlander camera he bought along.
An even more productive shoot with Ben this time than the last two. He coped very well with the demands of working on a complicated location and remained spruce and stylish throughout the day. One of the most rewarding aspects to working with Ben is the rapport he builds up with the tog, anticipating what you are about to suggest and picking up any requirements you might have from briar pipes to exciting ties. I am always left proud of my photos and impressed by his skill.
Shot almost entirely on location, for our second shoot Ben brought along his affable Uncle Ernie, complete with milk tokens and historic bottles of milk, and the redoubtable Bertie immaculate in Donegal tweed suit and dark red waistcoat. A highly productive session which produced a starred image, a first for both of us. I think that says it all.

A first shoot with Ben who brought along PC 465 and one of his uncles wearing a tweed suit and dashing primrose-coloured waistcoat. Ben carries himself well. has a fine head and striking blue eyes. The studio session produced the photo I use for my profile image along with a bunch of atmospheric portraits. A distinguished-looking model.
