I'm Mike, a hobbyist portrait photographer based in Tunbridge Wells, an easy walk from the station.
I've been shooting on and off for twenty years in a variety of styles (gig photography, some theatre and a little commercial photography, and a fair amount of portrait and art nude).
I shoot mostly in my own home 'studio' space, and sometimes outdoors in local spaces. My photos are often based around exploring and trying to recreate some elements of historical photographic styles.
I'm particularly interested in the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, E.O. Hoppé, Gordon Anthony and Jeanloup Sieff, and those of you who know of them will recognise elements of them in my style, such as it is.
My photography tends to be uncluttered and and classic. I like simple lighting strategies, frequently plain backgrounds and often soft or vintage lenses, but I am spending a little more time lately thinking about props and set design.
