My name is Claus Rose. I was born in Vilshofen on the river Danube in Bavaria/Germany in 1968. I grew up there, too. Since 1996 I have been living in Jena in Thuringia, though. For me photography with all its facets and modes of expression conveys a special sense of life. Therefore, I have developed a passion for it at an early stage already. I enjoy devoting my creativity to imaging, especially if I can exchange ideas with other people. I organize exhibitions and workshops. Furthermore, I publish in print media and on the Internet.
    
During the last few years I have specialized in nude photography and in portraits. I am very much fascinated by the magic of nude photography, lending the model a particular aura of aesthetics and grace. Apart from the classic nude photography, eroticism plays an increasing role in contemporary photography and art. At the dawn of the digital age, though, photography is struggling more for its status in art than ever before. I do not claim to be an artist. However, if art is derived from artistry I aim to present forms and figures as a subject to high craftsmanship standards. And if art is related to conveying a message, my objective is to trigger off short stories in the viewer's imagination. The gallery presented here is to be understood as a cross-section of my nude and portrait photography.
     
My most important patterns are scenes and figures taken from literature. My models are my first and most important audience. I try to emphasize their individual aura with the help of symbols of eroticism and to meet the diversity of their personalities with a diversity of work. I create my best photos if the model participates as actively as possible in the creation of the photo. This is the only way the balancing act between intended arrangement and the personality's freedom can be managed. Last but not least, photography only gives pleasure if there is a mutual give and take. Working under the motto "much is possible, nothing is a must" creates the confidence necessary between model and photographer.
