Unfortunately between 14:50 and 15:25 today (01-10-2013) we experienced some downtime across the site.
The reason for this was because of a DDoS attack across the entire cloud hosting platform which we operate on, several thousand websites were affected, one of which was us.
The attack has been mitigated by the hosts engineers, and they're currently working to stabilise many of the other websites on the cloud platform. No data loss will have occurred due to the attack.
The benefits of running on an infinitely scalable cloud hosting system means that we do not suffer common downtime due to things like server failure, and there is no single point of failure in the system, so we benefit from extreme reliability, but unfortunately very few websites are immune to DDoS attacks.
No further downtime is expected due to the DDoS attack - however engineers are remaining on site.
I apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the unexpected downtime today.
