So, I've religiously gone through all my images adding tags to them. Hopefully, this will become useful some day soon.
But in the meantime, I got thinking about what aspects of an image I want to highlight with those tags, and what other people might want to search for.
So to get the ball rolling, here's some notes on what I did...
Where was it taken - Studio, Home Shoot, Hotel Shoot, Location. Sometimes I added additional tags, such as "Graveyard" for a couple of shots, well, in a graveyard. And here's a wee dilemma I wrestled with - is a shoot that took place in an apartment rented by a touring model a home shoot, a hotel shoot, a location shoot, or none of the above? Answers on a postcard please :)
Lighting - Available Light (or Natural Light), Fill-in Flash, Studio Flash.
Category - I don't know about anyone else, but I frequently struggle to pick a category when I'm uploading images. I mean, that photo I put in the "boudoir" category could equally have gone in "glamour", "lingerie" or "topless". Sometime it gets a little arbitrary. So this is my chance to add ALL the categories it might have gone into, plus a few more of my own devising, such as "Implied Topless", "Sheer" or "Bottomless" (think about it). (So for example, my avatar image has the tags "Lingerie", "Glamour", "Implied Topless", "Sheer", "Topless", and "Fetish". You could probably argue about a couple of them, but I'm sure I could find people to agree with each and every one.)
Key attributes of the model - for now I've focused on hair colour (blonde, brunette and redhead, lumping in all the raven-haired models as brunettes, and ignoring dyed hair). Also included ethnic-minority models, so Asian, Arab, Afro-Caribbean, etc. But then I got a dose of liberal guilt and wondered if I should be adding Caucasian for all the (UK) ethnic-majority models. And of course there's a few dilemmas, e.g. Arab, Arabic or Arabian? Or all three? (Which seems like overkill, but still...)
Finally, clothing. Take my avatar image; "bodystocking", "leather", "lace" and "corset" all got added, as did "buckles and "zips".
And finally, finally ('cos I forgot as I was typing this) I've also tagged some images with a key colour. So here's a wee challenge (if you can be bothered): which of the images in my portfolio has the tag "Orange"? (Yes, this *is* a shameless attempt to get you all to look at my portfolio!!)
Anyway, now that I've rambled on (and on) bored you all to tears :), anyone else want to chip in with their ideas?
