Are models underselling their skills?

All we see on here are photographs, but it occurred to me yesterday when I was photographing a horse display that there must be a lot of models who have other skills, such as riding horses and motorbikes, skiing and jet skiing, archery, fencing, shooting and a lot of other skills which are really photogenic. You might be the most beautiful model on here, with long flowing hair which would look great in a shot of you riding along a beach, but if that isn't in your port, or at least there isn't a photograph of you showing that you can ride, a photographer is going to move on if that's the picture he's looking for. I've noticed a trend to use props such as guns and Samurai swords, which can make great shots if the person holding them is used to handling them, but swords just look awkward if the model hasn't used one.
