Next to Hairmyres train station there's a footpath that takes you over the railway bridge to the factories at College Milton. The footpath itself offers good locations for shooting and there's an old steel railway bridge at the top of the path that is a great background for shots.
But there's a little known parkland/woodland location that's mostly overgrown now but is accessible from this footpath. Walk from Hairmyres train station towards the large brick office building opposite the hospital and take the footpath over the stone railway bridge. Just after crossing the bridge look on the left and there's an overgrown path and wooden stairs up to the top of the hill. At the top of the hill there is an overgrown path that circles a wooded area. As well as the wooded area there are views towards Ben Lomond and the campsie hills.
I normally park at the College Milton end of the footpath and walk down. To find this follow the signs to the civic amenity site (local dump) from the Queensway and park opposite the entrance.
