Just visited a small hire studio nearby with a view to hire next month for a couple of shoots. Nice chap running it. The studio was a very large, bright 2-bedroom top floor flat decked out as a 'real' living space and the floor above it as a regular studio. The flat doubles as an office area and accommodation for visiting models - two Russian girls were currently passing through, both from Siberia, so enjoying our 'Summer' weather this week.
Sitting in the office/dining room/storeroom, I was struck by the equipment shelf: 2 D4s bodies, 2 D810 bodies, 1 D800 body, 2 D700 bodies, a D3 or D3s/D3x and 5 or 6 lower-spec Nikon bodies. Above them, ALL the current range of fast Nikkor primes including a 200 f/2...
On the shelf below that, Phase 1 and Hasselblad MF digital bodies, backs and lenses... I stopped counting at £150k.
Bearing in mind he doesn't live in this flat himself.
"No bookings in February please, I'm shooting in the Seychelles that month"... 4 models, Czech, Rus and Ukrainian, are rotating through, one week at a time...
