Booked a quickie shoot over the weekend with a model local to me - she was free on Sunday afternoon, so we agreed to a location portrait test shoot as we had some concerns over communication.
Now I knew she wasn't short and skinny from her port images, such as they were - I think you could best describe her as having a swimmer's physique with fairly wide shoulders and tall with it with long legs and a tidy bum - but I wasn't quite prepared for the size of her hands... Huge. Like shovels. Boxer's hands.
I can't use any of the shots with them in the frame as they look like giant clown gloves photoshopped on to her...
She's mentioned a nude homeshooting - she looked at my port and wants to do some of my low-key oily stuff... Might be a challenge.
Anyone else ever booked a model with a physical trait so disproportionate that they felt it detracted from the images? I've worked with models who weren't quite as attractive as expected, or were older, fatter and in one memorable case, quite obviously more pregnant than either their port images or stats indicated. 'Surprise' fake boobs are another thing that some models feel unnecessary to mention. Book a model with small perky boobs only to find she's been to Poland for a cheap boob-job over Christmas...
What to do? Cancel and send them packing, or soldier on and hope for the best?
