Being an ugly, beardy twat, I seldom get challenged when taking photos in public... years of doing this has taught me that in general terms if you look the part, people tend to assume you have a legitimate reason for doing what you're doing...
Now, possibly because I'm now using a 'toy' camera instead of toting a brace of D3 bodies around my neck, I guess I now look like any other touristy-hobby tog...

Today I had my very first 'you can't take photos here' confrontation with a woman who - unbelievably - stopped her car to block my shot so she could have a go.
My remedial German took a while to kick in and I initially thought she was asking for directions until she started yelling about 'Fotografie ist hier verboten!'

Warum? (why?)
"Dies ist eine private Weg" (this is a private road).
Nein, das ist ein öffentlicher Fußweg (this is a public footpath) - I was standing on the old railway line at the edge of town which has been converted to a footpath/cycle-lane, just as many have been in the UK.

Her contention was that the road that the footpath crossed was privately-maintained and led to the (very exclusive, very expensive) mansions at the edge of the forest a few hundred metres away.
At that point my German ran out so I reverted to Anglo-Saxon and told her to fucking well fuck the fuck off right fucking now unless she wanted me to customise the bodywork of her fucking Audi with my heavy walking boots.
Winning friends and influencing people as always.
She got the gist and left.
I took the shot...

Does this happen a lot? I'd expect it in certain areas - Airports, Police Stations, military installations etc. and I know all about the twats in London stopping photographers on the Thames embankment from using tripods, but in a small provincial 'nothing' of a town in the unfashionable part of Germany? Meh.

Oh and here's the piccie... National Security is at stake here so view with caution...
