Here's a thought that popped into my head this morning on the way to work, I know I shouldn't
think...it will only get me in to trouble, but I'm interested in your views.
Now, call me a tight Northerner if you like, but as a photographer why is it generally accepted that all the costs and fees for a shoot will be down to me?
A recent example, and one that many more may have experienced, was I was contacted by a model who wanted an hourly fee, travelling expenses and, although I have my own modest studio which was very costly to equip, wanted to shoot in a larger more commercial set up....which I had to pay for.
Then, to add to it, she wanted me to provide her with a variety of prints of her choice.
So, that little jaunt would have, had I agreed to it, cost me somewhere in the region of £75 modelling fee, £30 expenses, and around £75 studio hire plus the cost of the prints and my time.
Thank goodness she cold do her own hair and makeup!
Is there a case for sharing costs do you think? Would any models reading this want to share costs? What about photographers, is this a common theme?
