It was only after shooting hundreds of people that I realised I had to do it my own way. I thought hard about what kind of people I would like to tell stories of. It became clear that the best jobs I'd ever done were for people who shared my values of dignity, love, respect, solidarity, and friendship. I felt at ease with them, and they did with me. And that resulted in very natural images and emotions captured in my photos
