Facial expressions are one of the most difficult things for a model to get to grips with, in most cases more difficult than poses .
So, I wonder, both photographers and models how important to you are facial expressions in your images.
For example, is a woman bound, nipple clamped etc etc, really going to have a big grin on her face , models, when lying on a bed posing what is actually going through your mind ?
As a trained actress and musician, I find modelling to a degree just an extension of these elements and so try to build up a character and treat it as a performance as I progress through the shoot . This doesnt always happen at the beginning of the shoot as the character has to develop depending on the rapport I have with the photographer ( some can't quite grasp my sense of humour ).
The question is therefore, what comes first the pose or the facial expression, what is important to you ?
